Microsoft Plans Entry Into RFID Market
"Microsoft Corp. plans to release scalable radio frequency identification-based infrastructure technology sometime next year. The Redmond, Wash.-based vendor demonstrated some of the technology at its Tech Ed developer conference in Orlando, Fla. Microsoft's RFID system will be built on its .NET architecture and designed to enable integration with third-party applications. It also will be able to offer RFID information to other systems via its embedded BizTalk Server technology or through integration with Web applications, said Paul Flessner, senior vice president of server applications, during a presentation at the conference."
