UPS Invests in RFID, Wi-Fi Combination

"UPS Strategic Enterprise Fund, a private-equity strategic investment arm of UPS Inc., has provided Series A funding to G2 Microsystems Inc., which makes radio-frequency identification chips for managing and tracking mobile devices using Wi-Fi networks. Mobile-resource management lets businesses track assets worldwide and monitor their environment and security. G2 Microsystems is developing an ultra-low-power, active-asset tracking-system-on-a chip product line, called SmarTag, for location-based service applications that tap into Wi-Fi networks."
