"As the next step in the company's transition to Lead(Pb)-Free manufacturing, Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC)* announced the availability on its Web site today of a Lead(Pb)-Free(1) Memory Products Plan, developed by Toshiba Corp. (Toshiba) for designers, engineers, and developers of electronic components worldwide. As outlined in the document, the first phase of Toshiba's Lead(Pb)-Free Memory products plan was to offer Lead(Pb)-Free versions of its memory products upon request by the end of 2003. The initial phase of this important step in the "green" movement was completed on schedule, and many products have already been shifted to Lead(Pb)-Free according to customer's requirements. In order to further support our customers as they strive to comply with the various environmental regulations around the world, Toshiba is beginning the next phase of its conversion plan, working with customers to gradually convert all memory product shipments to Lead(Pb)-Free, with a goal of completing this transition by the end of 2005."
