Star Wars Electronic Lightsaber Selling for $8.00!

"Wal-mart is selling Star Wars Lightsabers for only $8.00. Today and especially tomorrow (Black Friday) retailers are throwing out special deals to drive customers in their shops. Black Friday is still the busiest shopping day in the United States, despite the growth of online shopping. Wal-mart has of course tons of deals also online for the Thanksgiving weekend. One of them is this Star Wars Lightsaber replica that ignites with a push of a button. This bargain lightsaber also features the real electronic movie sound effects, including battle-clash and "humming" sounds. Additionally it comes bundled with a DVD featuring chapters of the Clone Wars animated series." Source: i4u.com

Star Wars Geeks will find paradise in Battlefront II

"This is just one of those titles that’s so good it’s hard to believe it exists. I’m not the biggest Star Wars geek out there but I still know the difference between a Tie-fighter and an X-wing. The concept is so impressive that it has to be good; a Star Wars game in which you can use virtually any character or any ship in an all out war. If you didn’t play BF2’s predecessor I’ll give you the skinny: it’s third-person action and you choose your Star Wars faction, e.g., dark side, light side, gungans, trade federation, to begin a conquest that spans the galaxies. In levels, you typically have an infantry of more than a hundred at your disposal. Depending on the level there are often vehicles such as speeders and weapons such as turrets you can take advantage of. For the most part all you have to worry about is defending and taking over territories. In the main one player mode, you need credits, which are awarded when you are victorious, to make progresss and so that you can unlock new soldiers and upgrades." Source: andpop.com

'Star Wars' movie marathon requires time management skills

"Almost immediately after "Episode I" ended, I jumped up, ejected it and popped in "Episode II: Attack of the Clones." Rule number two for pulling off a massive movie marathon is time management. Any delays, regardless of how small they are, will add up as the day progresses and make it that much more difficult to accomplish." Source: coloradoan.com

Star Wars: Galaxies offers trial run

"After raising a ruckus among its established Star Wars Galaxies user base with a massive update to the gameworld, Sony Online Entertainment and LucasArts are looking to train new Padawan in the ways of the Jedi, or any of the other eight in-game professions. Gamers curious about the sci-fi massively multiplayer online role-playing game can now download a 10-day trial of the game that includes the first 10 levels of the soon-to-be-released Star Wars Galaxies: Starter Kit. With a budget price of $19.99, the starter kit contains the original game and the Warp to Lightspeed expansion pack, offering enough content to get would-be wookies through the game's redesigned first 30 experience levels. For those unsure about picking up the starter kit, the trial version is now available for download from GameSpot." Source: gamespot.com

Pahk the Cah by the Death Stah? 'Star Wars' Exhibit Hits Boston

"Light-years still separate science from fiction in George Lucas' six-film epic about the galactic battle between good and evil, but a new exhibit at Boston's Museum of Science tries to show that the fantasies of "Star Wars" aren't all far-fetched — and some are getting less so with each passing year. The exhibit, which stirred controversy when it was revealed that the museum had bumped a more conventional science exhibit, uses the wildly popular movies as a bridge to real science, and fire up interest — particularly among youngsters — about the promises of engineering, physics and other fields." Star Wars Battlefront II similar to Star Wars Battlefront

"If you've played Star Wars Battlefront, then you've played Star Wars Battlefront II. The sequel to the popular first game, which had you take on the guise of various Rebel and Empire soldiers in several of the movies famous battles, Star Wars Battlefront II is no different. You still play on either side of the battle, liberating the galaxy from evil or grinding it between your iron-like grasp. Now though, since the third and final episode of Star Wars has been released, you can be thrust into the battles from the second trilogy as well. So now, in addition to blasting Ewoks into dust, you can also blast droid separatists as well." Source: sdsucollegian.com

Star Wars Battlefront II Space Combat FAQ

"Starwars Battlefront Numero-Two-O has an Assault mode dealing only with starships. Each side tries to sabotage the enemy flagship's critical systems to earn victory points (VP). When a set amoutn of VP is met, that team wins the match. Since respawns are infinite, this is a tabletop war-gamer's wet-dream (more so if you adore Star Wars and hope that one day, you too can own your own harem of dancing Twi'lek girls). This space assault mode is probably more fun than the other modes, although it does get predictable after a while. Hopefully, there will be newer maps with more twists (two capital ships per team instead of one, or a starbase with indestructable turrets but no other critical systems) but that seems doubtful. All capital flagships in the game follow the below layout. There is no deviation apart from some hangars being open in both ends or just one end." Source: ign.com

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith DVD Review

"Naturally, Lucas' collaborators are there to comment on technical aspects of making the film. Like this: Mt Etna erupted while they were filming, so Lucas sent a photographic team to Italy to get footage. So the big lava sequence in the movies finale uses computer graphics, scale models and a real volcano. There is no commentary from the studio accountants on this use of the petty cash. And, of course, there are Easter eggs." Source: nzherald.co.nz

Star Wars Galaxies to see massive update

"LucasArts has revealed the first information on its planned upgrade for Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. The update will introduce sweeping changes to the online game, such as redefining all characters into nine professions: bounty hunters, smugglers, spies, traders, entertainers, commandos, medics, officers, and force-sensitives. So instead of keeping the lore of the Jedi a guarded secret, the updated game will let you jump on the fast track to becoming one of the universe's mystical knights, if you wish. However, LucasArts insists that even though the secrets of the Jedi have become less and less...secret, the majority of its players prefer other professions, and expects the same even after the update." Star Wars Battlefront II

"Unfortunately, Battlefront II is so similar to Battlefront many gamers might be put off by an uncomfortable impression of having been there and done that. There are many of the same levels, classes, weapons, vehicles, sounds, graphics, animations, characters and problems. But then Lucas is at least trying to keep the dream alive by providing new content we all wished we could enjoy the first time around. Only some of that extra material goes in with mixed results, which ultimately leaves us with a product that doesn't measure up to the potential of the first game, its success, or even the dream that spawned it all."
